🧵 Hand-Stitched Tutorial: Seamless Double-Layer Scrunchie

(The “No-Machine-Needed” Edition) ✨

【The Secrets to Success】

  • The Stitch: Use a Backstitch throughout. It’s the strongest hand stitch and rivals any sewing machine!
  • The Finish: Close it with a Ladder Stitch (Hidden Stitch) for that magical “invisible” finish. No threads, just perfection. 🤫

📦 Materials & Tools

  • Fabric: 2 pieces (12cm × 70cm / approx. 4.7″ × 27.5″)
  • Elastic: 19cm (approx. 7.5″)

🛠 Step-by-Step Guide

  • Precision Marking: Use your Heat-Erasable Pen and Mini Measuring Tape to draw a 0.5cm (1/4″) seam line on the wrong side. This ensures your hand-stitching stays perfectly straight!
  • The First Seam: Fold the ends together and Backstitch along the marked line using the needles from our Sewing Kit. Leave a 2cm (3/4″) opening. Pro tip: Keep stitches small (2mm) for maximum durability.
  • Face-to-Face: Place the two fabric pieces right sides together. Hand-sew along one long edge in a circular motion.
  • The Roll Technique: Use the classic “burrito method” to fold the scrunchie. Use pins to keep the layers from shifting.
  • Closing the Circle: Continue with a Backstitch to complete the circular seam. Leave a 5cm (2″) opening near the end for turning.
  • Flip & Press: Turn the scrunchie right-side out. Crucial Step: Use an iron to press the edges flat. Watch the magic: Your Heat-Erasable Pen marks will disappear instantly under the heat!
  • Insert Elastic: Thread the 19cm elastic through the small gap. Overlap the ends and secure them with a Cross-stitch so they never snap!
  • The Magic Step: Close the 5cm opening using a Ladder Stitch (Hidden Stitch). As you pull the thread tight, the seam disappears instantly! 🪄✨
