The biggest mistake people make with these pens is not giving them a minute to dry. You get a slight line when wet, but a bold line when dry.
I tested the pens on a scrap of fabric. They all disappeared in the heat of the iron, but one of them (the white, I believe) left a yellow residue. It is possible that it will wash out, but if you are marking something that may not easily be washed (i.e. counted cross-stitch), you should test it out beforehand.
It is very useful to have these marks on my “grid,” and I am very glad I purchased the pens.
